At The Law Offices of Charny, Karpousis, Altieri & Donoian, P.A., we are strongly committed to resolving matters of divorce in the most compassionate manner. Our divorce and family law attorneys are practical in our approaches to the matters we handle. We offer not only traditional divorce litigation services, but also alternative dispute resolution through arbitration, mediation and most recently, collaborative divorce.
With more than 50 years combined in Divorce & Family Law, Judith S. Charny, Esq., Karen R. Karpousis, Esq., Nancy D. Gold, Esq. and Meghan E. Bradley, Esq. are well-respected leaders in our legal community, and recognize that it is generally in your best interest to avoid courtroom litigation, saving you and your spouse both time and money. More importantly, we look to alleviate the emotional struggle that often accompanies the divorce process.
In cases of divorce, mediation enables couples a way to resolve some of the most sensitive issues such as child custody, parenting time, support and equitable distribution of property outside of a courtroom. After an experienced analysis, evaluation and review of each party’s position, our South Jersey divorce mediators help the parties reach fair and equitable settlements in a confidential and neutral manner.
We encourage divorce mediation. It is a process where you represent yourself, and at the end of the negotiation process have your own lawyer review the settlement agreement drafted by the mediator to ensure that it is fair. We think this is a good alternative, especially if you do not feel you can afford the services of an attorney throughout the divorce process.
There are times when a settlement with guaranteed finality is best for family members, and private arbitration is an expeditious way to resolve matters such as the financial and/or child related issues of divorce, with no opportunities for appeal or reversal. After a comprehensive and confidential review of the various issues, the appropriate laws are applied and an award is outlined to create the most equitable resolution. With the conclusive nature of arbitration, our divorce attorney arbitrators have the necessary experience and expertise to judge the parties’ claims with great care and to thoroughly evaluate the presentations of both parties.
A program run through the Court system, Matrimonial Early Settlement Panels (MESP) attempt to settle all financial issues involved in the dissolution of a marriage prior to a trial. MESPs bring together the “best and brightest” family law attorneys to hear complicated and/or contested divorce cases.
As experienced Blue Ribbon MESP panelists, our attorneys use their legal knowledge, skill and practical experience to make non-partisan recommendations based upon the facts presented by both parties’ attorneys. These well-informed findings are subsequently used by those with decision-making power to outline a fair and lasting settlement.
